Raymond Ramcharitar: Trinidad & Tobago; I'm a journalist, editor, media and cultural critic and academic. I've published the first and only book-length study of the Trinidadian press (Breaking the News: Media and Culture in Trinidad, Lexicon, 2005), and taught journalism, media studies & literature. I have degrees in Economics (BSc), Literature (MA), and History (PhD) all from the University of the West Indies, St Augustine. I have published fiction (The Island Quintet, Peepal Tree Press, 2009), poetry, (Here, 2013 and American Fall, Peepa,l Tree Press, Leeds, 2007), and edited and contributed to a collection of Trinidad poets (The Armour of the Ridiculous, Lexicon, Trinidad, 2006). My play, Paradiso, was one of three selections (winners) of the British Warehouse Theatre's International Playwriting Festival (2002). I was a Bread Loaf Poetry Fellow (US) in 2011, and have published several academic essays on history, cultural studies, and literary criticism in journals and edited collections.
